Supporting Physical and Mental Wellbeing in a Screen-Based World

Screens are now part of everyday life — from the classroom to the workplace. But what does this mean for how we move, work, learn and regulate?

For our October Upskill Studio Guest Talk, Susanna Albertyn, Physiotherapist, and Cerise Rabie, Educational Psychologist, will explore the physical and psychological considerations of growing up and working in an increasingly screen-based world.

The discussion will include:
* Posture and ergonomics
* Screen habits
* Movement and regulation
* Mental wellbeing
* Considerations from school through to work

Join us to consider these issues from both physical and psychological perspectives.

20 October 2026 | 18:30–20:30 | Online | R260 per session

Victoria will explore motherhood beyond biology, considering maternal instinct, attachment and attunement, and how babies communicate and connect before words. Inge Gouws | Educational Psychologist
Beyond the Therapy Room: Co-Creating Ethical ‘Anxiety Support Packs’ for Parents and Teachers

* Motherhood, maternal instinct, attachment and attunement
* The baby as a communicator before words
* What we inherit and what we choose to pass on

The July MDT: Healing Through the Arts – Understanding the Value of Art Therapy for Adults

Art therapy is often associated with children, yet creativity remains a powerful tool for self-expression, emotional processing, and wellbeing throughout adulthood. Whether used alongside traditional therapeutic approaches or as a standalone creative process, art therapy offers individuals an opportunity to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be difficult to express through words alone.

This practical session is designed for professionals working across healthcare, mental health, education, and the helping professions who would like to better understand the role of art therapy within multidisciplinary practice and adult wellbeing.

Through guided presentation and discussion, participants will explore how creative expression supports emotional processing, self-awareness, resilience, and therapeutic engagement across a range of settings.

In this session you'll explore:
* The role of creativity in supporting emotional wellbeing and psychological health for adults.
* How art therapy complements traditional therapeutic approaches.
* Exploring the neuroscience behind creativity, expression, and emotional processing.
* Understanding symbolism, metaphor, and non-verbal communication in therapeutic work.

Because healing is not always found in words. Sometimes creativity provides a safe pathway to understanding ourselves, processing life's experiences, and reconnecting with meaning and wellbeing.

📘 This session forms part of an accredited CPD activity. Participants who attend and complete the required components will be eligible for CPD recognition in line with HPCSA requirements.

Psychometric assessments can provide valuable information, but meaningful support requires more than simply reviewing scores and reports. Understanding how to interpret findings, integrate multiple sources of information, and translate results into practical recommendations is essential for effective professional decision-making.

This practical session is designed for professionals working across healthcare, mental health, education, recruitment, and helping professions who wish to strengthen their confidence in assessment interpretation and application.

Through guided presentations and discussion, participants will explore how psychometric findings can be understood within the broader context of client experiences, observations, and professional practice.

In this session you'll explore:
Identifying the assessment findings that matter most.
Integrating psychometric data with observations and contextual information.
Translating assessment findings into meaningful recommendations and support strategies.
Connecting assessment outcomes to professional practice and decision-making.
Building confidence in the interpretation and communication of psychometric results.
Understanding how different professional perspectives contribute to assessment interpretation.

Because assessments provide insight, but effective support requires understanding how those insights connect to the individual's lived experience, needs, and context.

📘 This session forms part of an accredited CPD activity. Participants who attend and complete the required components will be eligible for CPD recognition in line with HPCSA requirements.
